    1st oil ring: Steel rail and stainless expansion
    2nd ring: Grey iron
    Top ring: Steel

    Piston rings are often coated with soft substances like graphite, phosphate, or iron oxide to help them withstand

    high temperatures and frequent loading conditions. These coatings also absorb oil well.
